Special Edition Using Microsoft Active Directory
Published in Paperback by Que (March, 2001)
Authors: Sean Fullerton, James Hudson, and Steve Judd
Average review score:

Very good book!
The authors have done a very good jobs of explaining several complex matters. More importantly, the authors have clearly shown that they have trenmendous amount of real-world experiece. It's good to know that we still have some authors like that instead of too many professional writers, who have no real world experience and who just paraphase what M$ says about their product on the online help.

Thanks.

An Excellent Reference and How-To for Active Directory
This book is very helpful if you are planning a Windows 2000 Active Directory design or already have one and need to get the most out of your AD. The authors have organized the book very well making it easy to find the information you need. The book is very useful as a quick reference. Additionally, material is presented in a logical order making it easily readable cover-to-cover if you need a comprehesive understanding of AD.

The authors stress the importance of a solid DNS design and drive home the point just how critical DNS is for good AD operation. There is a good description of forests, trees, and domains as well as much helpful information on planning sites and site replication. The book also goes into detail on printers and scripting.

I found the book very useful for setting up and administering different features of Windows 2000 such as group policy. There are good chapters on Group Policy Architecture and Managing Group Policy.

As an MCSE+Internet certified analyst assigned to the AD design team for a Fortune 500 company, I highly recommend this book. It makes a good operational reference for your bookshelf. Although not geared specifically for Windows 2000 certification tests, it is worth reading if you are preparing for the exams.

A heavily dog-eared and marked up book on my shelf.
My thanks to Gordon Padwick. Integrated Office Application lifted the veil from my eyes and I finally understood how to control one MS Office application from another. It has great, practical examples of how to control Excel from Access, Access from Excel, Excel from Word, etc. Learning about CopyFromRecordset (an Excel Range method) was enough to justify purchase of this book! I grok it now.

Fullerton's book is a valuable overview of Greek art. Easy to read and informative, Greek Art is an excellent introduction to the many facets of antiquity. Like many recent books from Cambridge, it is also well composed with feature books and extensive captions.

Higher Functioning Adolescents and Young Adults With Autism: A Teacher's Guide
Published in Spiral-bound by Pro Ed (May, 1996)
Authors: Ann Fullerton, Joyce Stratton, Phyllis Coyne, Carol Gray, and Georgianne Thomas
Average review score:

Excellent to the point book aimed at educating teachers
This is the first guide I have ever found aimed at educating teachers about higher functioning autism and asperger's syndrome. Aimed primarily at Junior High, High School, and College teachers. As a parent I found it accurate and full of extremely helpful ideas for educators. I am making sure each of my daughters teachers read it as it sheds light on the education problems that follow my daughter. This book will give educators information they can easily use and incorporate into their classrooms to help these adolescents be successful. Even includes social interaction information. I loved it.

This book is the best I have found about New Caledonia
This book is the best I have found about New Caledonia. It is so hard for Americans to find good accurate info on New Caledonia but this book does it all. I knew more about some places than many of the locals. It helped me understand where I was going and helped me better integrate into the society there. Wonderful book. I am a lonely planet person now. :-)

Sixty Minutes for St George
Published in Audio Cassette by Soundings Ltd (June, 1999)
Authors: Alexander Fullerton and Graham Roberts
Average review score:

A thrilling tale of a daring and costly raid
Mr. Fullerton takes the reader from the pitching decks of the Royal Navy ships during WWI to the bloody raid on Zeebrugge in 1918, on St. George's Day. His research is flawless and his characters are most entertaining, as is the gripping action and plot. Outstanding action scenes and the violent German resistance makes one appreciate what was done by the British during this heroic action. Check it out.

The Blooding of the Guns
Published in Paperback by Little Brown and Company (June, 1998)
Author: Alexander Fullerton
Average review score:

Great fictional account of the WWI naval battle of Jutland
This is a fine fictional account of the Battle of Jutland. Jutland was the one major engagement between the British and German navies in World War I on 30 May, 1916. The clash involved hundreds of ships ranging from small destroyers to 30,000 ton battleships. During the battle the British learned of a major design flaw in their battle cruisers. These ships were lightly armored for speed but armed with large caliber main guns to match battleships. Unfortunately, the magazines were not properly protected from the turrets firing above them and the had a tendency to blowup and disintegrate the entire ship. Most of this novel takes place during the battle. The author gives excellent descriptions of the equipment, crews, tactics, and running and handling of the ships that participated in the action. The battle sequences are exciting and realistic. The main characters are Hugh Everard, Captain of a Queen Elizabeth class battleship. He is the mentor of his nephews, David and Nick. David is older than Nick and an experienced sailor assigned on a battle cruiser. The inexperienced Nick is newly assigned to a Destroyer. Each of these three men are severely tested during the battle. This is the first novel in the Everard saga and well worth the read, but be warned: these novels can be addictive.

Review - The Blooding Of The Guns
Action aplenty. Alexander Fullarton writes with authority, knows his subject and has an eye for history. It is without a doubt the best narrative of The Battle Of Jutland by any author or historian in the business.

Magnificent High- Seas Action
I just finished Alexander Fullerton's "The Blooding of the Guns" and my heart is still beating faster than it should. This is an outstanding work of naval fiction. Fullerton follows three men, the Everards(each on separate ships), during the Battle of Jutland. Swiftly shifting from one vessel to the next, the author manages to convey some of the confusion and "fog of battle" that plagued both the British and the Germans during this, the greatest naval battle of WWI. Fullerton's knowledge of nautical terms and early 20th century Royal Navy practices and customs creates a staggeringly realistic action novel. For readers tired of the stodgy, plodding works of Patrick O'Brian, or the gee-whiz gimmicks of Ludlum and Dale Brown, or who simply prefer dreadnoughts over wood and sails, Fullerton is a rare and welcome addition to the short list of truly authentic war novelists.
